Here’s something you can raise your glass to: It’s National Tequila Day today.
There are all kinds of tequila varieties out there to choose from and lots of ways to enjoy the drink. Whatever your preference, today is the day to celebrate (responsibly, of course)!
Spicy Peach Margarita by Top Chef Judge Gail Simmons
Tequila Sunrise
1 1/2 cups ice
2 ounces Rincon Alteno tequila
4 ounces orange juice
1 cup ice
3/4 ounce grenadine syrup
- Fill a highball glass with 1 1/2 cups ice and set aside.
- Combine tequila and orange juice in a cocktail mixing glass. Add 1 cup ice, stir, and strain into the prepared highball glass. Slowly pour in grenadine and let settle.
- Stir before drinking.
2 cups sweet and sour mix
1 cup triple sec
1 1/2 cups Rincon Alteno tequila
1/3 cup brandy-based orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
2 limes, quartered
- Salt the rims of 8 glasses. To do so, pour salt onto a small plate, rub the rims of the glasses with lime, and press them into the salt. Fill the glasses with ice.
- In a blender, combine sweet and sour mix, triple sec, tequila and Grand Marnier. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses, squeeze a quarter lime into each glass, and serve.

If you prefer a natural agave flavor, then you can simply use an agave syrup, which naturally sweetens the drink and heightens the agave flavor, adding a complexity that other sweeteners diminish.
